The photo above was sent to me by Bridget Basile Ibrahim who had presented at the conference and asked for a copy of the cover picture from the conference handbook because she loved it so much.
The image was generated with the help of Dall-E, the AI image generating software.
I uploaded an example of a well-known 1930s NZ railway travel poster (above) and asked it to imitate this style and produce an images akin to a traditional woodcut. I was really happy with what it produced.
People have been kindly sending their anonymised reflections on the conference into a Google Form.
22 people responded and I’ve collated their feedback into a pdf document, attached here.
The written feedback echoes a lot of what people said at the time and immediately afterwards: everyone seemed to really enjoy the conference and there were some things that made it especially memorable. (The food even surprised us!) There were also a couple of things we missed, or people would want more of in the future. But I’d say it was 98.3% successful, and I’ll take that.
All being well we’ll be able to announce the date and place of the next ISIH conference soon, but I’ll keep you posted on here with any updates.
I think this officially closes off our business with the ISIH 2024 conference now. So, once again, thank you to everyone for all of your energy and effort. It really does take a village to raise a conference.
