It comes by doing
‘I’ve read a handful of books about creative work over the years, and the one of the most prominent and recurring questions that aspiring artists, writers, musicians, etc. wrestle with is how to gain and maintain inspiration. I think many people operate with the assumption that motivation comes at random times (when the heavens part), and perhaps there is a secret ritual one can do that would invoke such a gift. This is a popular assumption. And though there are a few creatives who perpetuate that romantic idea, the vast majority are much more realistic about it. Those who are the most successful and most consistent are those who just put their heads down and do the work. Creativity requires discipline. It requires practice and patience for fruition. This is discouraging to some aspiring creatives (who want success without work), but I think it really shouldn’t be. We should take heart that success is not dependent on “natural-born” talent, which some people have and others do not. We all can work hard to achieve our vision’ Link
