A few weeks ago, I was interviewed by Allana Beavis from the Global Physio Podcast about the work I’ve done critiquing the physiotherapy profession. The interview is now up online and in two parts, here and here.
Hi Dave. I really enjoyed listening to the interview. Heady stuff for a novice to this school of thought like me, but I'm interested. Can you make any recommendations for posthumansim works of (science) fiction? I feel like that might be a good way for me to begin absorbing the philosophy.
Hi Eric. Thanks for the lovely comments. I confess I'm not a reader of science fiction, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. Perhaps there are other ParaDoxa readers people who will have a better idea?
There's a tonne of critical posthuman writing exploring different kinds of textual engagement. If you're interested in any of that perhaps start with the Qualitative Inquiry journal where they've been publishing a lot of that in the health field for years now.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of a lot of it because the writing arc always seems to return us to human subjectivity, which sort of defeats the point. But a lot will depend on how you're setting out to be posthuman - something I'm going to try to tackle in this week's blogpost on Posthumanism Part 3.
